The Swiss Guard was created 517 years ago on January 22, 1506. The Swiss Guard is the smallest army in the world and is responsible for the security of the Pope and the Vatican.

Castle Commaraque, Les Eyzies, France. This is one of my favorite places in the world. I found this ruins on a Michelin map and traipsed across corn fields to find it. It was, at the time totally abandoned. A decade plus later we came back and found it partially restored .
